According to the data published by the National Department Administrative of Statistics, in July, Colombia exported 5.73 million tons of coal, down 15.1 percent from June, 6.6% from the same period last year, 22.5% from the same period in the past five years, and the export volume fell for the second consecutive month.

In July, Colombia's coal exports were $301 million, down 16.6% from a month-on-month and 34.1% year-on-year. The average export price was calculated to be $52.61 per ton, down 1.7% month-on-month and 29.4% year-on-year.
Data showed that Colombia exported 51.3 million tons of coal in January-July, an increase of 14.9% year-on-year, while exports were $2.97 billion, down 19.6% year-on-year.
On 31 August, the Sintracarbon of Cerrejon in Colombia staged a strike for welfare. BHP Billiton, Anglo-American and Glencore each hold a third of the mine. In the first half of this year, coal exports from the Cerrejon hit an 18-year low, dropping to just 9.5 million tons.
